Two men have been arrested over the shooting death of a dressmaker who was found dead inside his house in Melbourne’s west last month.

The Phong Vuong, 49, was found murdered inside in his home at Erin Square in Deer Park on June 26.

Homicide Squad detectives confirmed late Monday evening that they had arrested a 35-year-old Kingsbury man and a 45-year-old Coburg man in relation to Mr Vuong’s death.

The two men, who are yet to be charged, were taken into custody and interviewed by police.

Detectives believe Mr Vuong may have been murdered as early as June 15, when he was last seen. Eleven days later, his body was found by neighbours and a visitor.

On June 26 a visitor to the house alerted neighbours when no one answered the front door.

The neighbours managed to get inside the house, where they made the gruesome discovery.

Neighbour Leo Henry told Fairfax Media earlier this month, Mr Vuong mostly kept to himself.

However, he said, there were always people “coming in and out” of his house.

“He came over a couple of years ago and he knocked on the door and he to me said ‘You’re a big man, can you give me a hand with getting a machine out of the van’ and that’s about all really,” Mr Henry said.

Mr Henry said he believed the man lived alone and had rented the house for about six years.

“His brother lived with him before he moved to Sydney a little while ago,” he said.

Mr Henry said neighbours had been left reeling by the man’s death.

“I don’t know what’s really happened to him. He was a nice man, a very nice man,” he said.
