PGA Championship live: Brooks Koepka denies girlfriend
Already a multiple major champion, Brooks Koepka is closing in on elite company at the PGA Championship.
Koepka had a seven-shot lead going into the final round Monday (AEST) at Bethpage Black, knowing no one had ever lost a lead that large in a major championship.
A victory would allow him to join Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson as the only players in the last 30 years to have won majors in three consecutive years.
Still, if you thought he was going to be in a relaxed mood you were wrong.
Koepka’s girlfriend Jena Sims found out the hard way when she tried to take advantage of some camera time by planting a loving kiss on her man.
The actress, model and beauty pageant winner was burned not once but twice by her younger beau. Sims, 30, gently placed her hand on Koepka’s arm to let him know it was PDA time.
But she mistimed her run as a golf bro swooped in for a fist bump and cut her lunch.
Not to be denied, Sims appeared to whisper something to the world number three before raising her chin and preparing for the smooch. Wrong again!
Koepka continued his denials by playing solid golf on the opening holes to maintain a five-stroke buffer over Dustin Johnson.
He was even through five holes to remain at 12-under.
Golf: American Brooks Koepka has moved inexorably closer to his fourth major title, maintaining a seven-stroke lead halfway through the third round at the PGA Championship.
Koepka remains in command
