A TEENAGER has been granted bail in court, accused of breaking a policeman’s nose during a violent arrest. The 16-year-old boy appeared in Tamworth Children’s Court on Wednesday, facing charges of resisting arrest, assaulting police causing actual bodily harm and assaulting an officer in the execution of their duty. Police allege the teenager attacked the police officer from the region’s high-risk domestic violence offender team after they went to a Edward Street property about 11am on Tuesday. Police said they went to the home in search of a wanted person, but the teenager allegedly pushed an officer in the back. The boy is then alleged to have headbutted a senior constable in the face while police were helping the teen to his feet. The injured officer was taken to Gunnedah hospital for a broken nose and was later released. The boy spent the night in custody before fronting court on Wednesday, and was not required to enter pleas to the charges. Magistrate Julie Soars granted the teenager bail, with conditions including to be of good behaviour and live in Gunnedah. He will return to court at a later date.
