Taylor Walker stepped down from his role as skipper of the Adelaide Crows to focus more on his family, now he’s shared the heartwarming news of his wife, Ellie, giving birth to the couples’ first son.
Walker shared several photos to his Instagram account showing off Hugo James Walker who was born early Thursday morning.
“When you arrived yesterday morning I instantly fell in love with you! You are going to bring so much joy to Mum & I. Mum @elswalker_ I fell in love with you even more, so proud of you! Hugo James Walker 8.35am – 7/11/19,” Walker captioned the images.
The post attracted comments from fellow AFL players in Rory Sloane, Lance Franklin, Bryce Gibbs and many more.
Former Adelaide player turned media personality Ryan Fitzgerald shared a tongue in cheek message before passing along love from the entire family.
“Just in time for pre season! Congrats live birds, great news. Sending all our love, the Fitzgeralds,” he wrote.
Walker stepped down from his role as captain after being appointed in 2015 ahead of an external review into the Crows following two tumultuous seasons.
“I have made the decision to stand down so I can focus on enjoying my footy and spending time with my family,” Walker said at the time.
The star forward announced in September the news he and his wife Ellie were expecting their first child.
The couple were married in a surprise wedding in March, 2019. The pair organised an engagement party with close family and friends before turning it into a wedding.
The news of the newest arrival comes after the couple faced heartbreak when Ellie lost an unborn baby last November, months after they announced they were expecting their first child.
