Cate Blanchett to sell her beautifully renovated Berowra Creek property

Actress Cate Blanchett poses for photographers upon arrival at the British Fashion Awards in central London.

Actor Cate Blanchett’s stunning Hawkesbury hideaway, in Sydney’s north, is officially on the market.

The triple-level waterfront retreat at Berowra Creek, which has its own private pontoon, is far from the bright lights of Hollywood and can only be accessed by boat.

It has a price guide of $1.6m to $1.75m.

Noel Nicholson, of Ray White Prestige Palm Beach said they had to wait until smoke from the recent bushfires had cleared to be able to take photos that showed off the picturesque retreat.

Blanchett, who is married to former artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company Andrew Upton and has four children, is now based in the UK. They made the decision to sell the lavish weekender as they were no longer using it.

The property has a beautiful waterfront outlook

“It has become obsolete and they have reached a stage in their life where they decided to pass it onto new hands,’’ Mr Nicholson said.

“It has very much been their own house, they may have let it out to friends and family, but it hasn’t been rented out.”

The home is located just a stone’s throw from the Berowra Waters Inn and a five minute boat ride from the public jetty.

The Academy-Award winning actor purchased the property at Calabash Point in July 2014 for $1.495m. At the time, it was a price record for the suburb.

It has been extensively renovated with glass framed hardwood balconies, a stylish kitchen and timber flooring. A portrait of the actor and one of her sons hangs in the lounge room.

The lower ground floor is fully self-contained with its own living area, kitchen, servery window and sauna.

There are plenty of bedrooms including a luxurious master retreat located on the upper level of the home. It has its own balcony with waterviews and ensuite.

Mr Nicholson said the property’s biggest drawcard, however, is its tranquillity.

The home has plenty of accommodation

“My data base for these types of properties are very large and interestingly enough even before it went live, we had calls on it,” he said.

“A lot of our people are very private and the good thing about Berowra is that it is quite close to the CBD. In the past we would have people buy properties at Blueys Beach or Huskisson but because people are time poor now they would like to jump in their car and take their family to a weekender that is quite close.”
