Justice chief ‘went to Beijing to treat fracture’
Cheng fell and fractured her wrist after being heckled and apparently jostled by protesters – many speaking Cantonese – the the British capital.
Asked why she went to Beijing instead of returning here, she avoided giving any details, saying only that the Chinese Consulate in the UK had arranged for her to receive further treatment in Beijing following an initial operation in London.
She said she suffered a fracture and partial dislocation in her wrist.
“The hand is of course painful, but is more painful at the heart to see that Hong Kong is still at the state that we are in, and still disorderly behaviour, and that to me is more painful than my arm.”
Cheng added that her doctor told her is would take about three months to a year to fully recover. However, she said she plans to return to work on Wednesday.
