NBA news, trade rumours: Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Andre Iguodala, Robert Covington

It seems to be the consensus that the Philadelphia 76ers are a move away from being nearly unstoppable, and the names they’re chasing have just been revealed.

The list includes a former teammate of the current core, a long-time 76er, as well as a slew of sharpshooters from around the NBA.

That’s according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, who reported a list of the 76ers’ main targets ahead of the February 7 (AEDT) trade deadline.

Andre Iguodala and Robert Covington headline the list, which also included Malik Beasley, Glen Robinson III, Davis Bertans, and E’Twaun Moore.

At this point, it seems as though the 76ers are happy with rolling with Embiid and Simmons as a duo — despite the lack of spacing that comes from playing with both guys — so the thinking is that adding a versatile wing shooter is the way to go.

The two more intriguing names on that list — Iguodala and Covington — however, are probably the most unlikely to come to fruition. The 76ers traded Covington to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018, and likely don’t have the assets to bring back the talented 3-and-D wing.”/>
media_cameraIs Iggy a realistic target for Philly?

When it comes to Iguodala, a former NBA Finals MVP, the same logic would apply. Iguodala is currently a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, but is in limbo, with both sides happy to wait until a team puts forward a viable trade offer for him. The Grizzlies have been eyeing a first-round pick in any trade for Iguodala, and the overwhelming chatter is that the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are in the driver’s seat.

The other players on the list are good fits, and are more realistic targets for general manager Elton Brand and co. Beasley and Bertans are among the best knockdown shooters in the NBA, while Robinson III and Moore can score the ball in a multitude of ways.

What the 76ers are willing to give up isn’t clear, but what is clear is that they need another three-point shooting threat in order to make a legitimate run for a title.
