Mums raving about $29 dupe of Le Creuset cast iron casserole pot
Stylish cookware doesn’t come much better than Le Creuset, but the famous French brand’s cast iron pots and pans also come with eye-watering prices.
Now, savvy mums have revealed Aussie retailer Kmart is stocking a version of the Le Creuset casserole pot for a fraction of the cost, which some claim is just as good.
One mum recently took to Facebook to explain how an “unfortunate accident” resulted in her much-loved Le Creuset casserole pot being thrown away.
After heading to the retailer, she discovered a $29 dupe, and although sceptical of the quality, she bought it anyway, and later discovered it “cooks wonderfully”.
“Today I made an incredibly fluffy and crusty sourdough,” the delighted woman captioned her post.
“For five per cent of the price of the Le Creuset, it’s a worthwhile investment!”

It is worth noting that a Le Creuset 4.2L casserole dish retails for $529 — $500 more than the Kmart version.
Excited fellow shoppers weighed in on the woman’s post in their droves, saying how keen they were to try the budget version of the casserole dish based on the woman’s glowing review.
“I have had Le Creuset pans etc before. I picked up one of these casserole dishes in grey a couple of weeks ago for $20 and it is just as good if not better,” said one.
While another said: “We were fortunate to be given a Le Creuset as a wedding gift (22 years ago) and it’s fabulous!
“Always wanted to add to it but have never had the cash. I will definitely be buying a Kmart one. Thanks for the review.”
Information about the casserole pot on Kmart’s site states the cast-iron item features a four-litre capacity and an easy-to-clean enamel interior.
“Whip up a scrumptious meal in this casserole pot that will be perfect for slow cooking!”
For many, the appeal of Le Creuset cookware lays in the fact that it isn’t only durable but is also the brand chefs turn to when fitting out their own home kitchens.
The French company, which has been fashioning elite cookware for almost 100 years, has built its reputation on creating durable, long-lasting pots and pans, designed to last a lifetime.
Despite some advances in production methods, Le Creuset continues to subscribe to the handcrafted techniques and original process of forging and casting its enamelled cast iron cookware.
And no two pieces are identical.
