Paul Murray LIVE Our Town brings Sky News anchor to Gold Coast as part of tour of regional Australia

POPULAR Sky News anchor Paul Murray has announced he will broadcast live from the Gold Coast during a sweeping tour of regional Australia.

The Paul Murray LIVE Our Town tour raised $400,000 for regional communities last year.

In 2020, Murray will visit 10 regional locations in 10 months and he will hear from residents about the issues and challenges they are facing.

The first stop on the Our Town Tour is Batemans Bay in New South Wales, which was ravaged by the recent bushfires.

Mr Murray said: “Following the bushfires that have ravaged our country, now more than ever, it is so important that we support and showcase the towns that are the backbone of this great country.”

“I am so proud of the impact the tour had on local communities last year and this year we are even more ambitious to raise funds and ensure we provide a positive lasting impact. I can’t wait to get on the road,” he said.

Each show on the tour, backed by Harvey Norman, Sony Music and CBA, will include some of the country’s biggest music stars from Sony performing live.

The Batemans Bay leg of the tour will be held on February 19 at 9pm (AEDT), while Mr Murray’s Gold Coast stopover has tentatively been locked in for April 29 at Bundall.

Sky News chief executive Paul Whittaker said last year’s tour was a “tremendous success”.

“We’re pleased to be taking Paul’s popular program out on the road again this year to connect with local communities across Australia and share their stories with our viewers at home.”
