Tamworth McGrath breast care nurse: Nerridah Prentice leaves after 2.5 years in the job | The Northern Daily Leader

MCGRATH breast care nurse Nerridah Prentice has changed hundreds of lives. After two-and-a-half years in the job, she’ll wrap up her last day on Tuesday. Tamworth Hospital manager Yvonne Patricks said patients will still receive care until a new nurse is found. “We are currently working with the McGrath Foundation to fill the role for a period of three months while we recruit to the permanent position,” she said. “Interviews will be taking place shortly.” The McGrath breast care nurse will see women from Tamworth, Gunnedah and Quirindi about 100 times every month. The nurse helps patients and their families through physical, psychological and emotional challenges from the time of diagnosis and through treatment. It’s an invaluable service that offered completely free of charge and has supported hundreds of families in the region. The community campaigned hard for the role, established after consistent lobbying from volunteer cancer organisation Serendipity. The role is funded with granted money provided by the McGrath Foundation and is one of three breast care nurses servicing Tamworth, Armidale and Moree, Ms Patricks said.
