People from across the region will gather on the Tamworth town hall steps on Saturday morning to fight for the planet’s protection. “I feel like it’s an essential part of my role as a parent to speak up for the systematic change we need,” said Tamworth Parents and Friends for Climate Action member Tessa Rainbird. The protesters’ four key demands are 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030, no new fossil fuel projects, more funding for firefighters and justice for Indigenous people. Inverell farmer and activist Glenn Morris rode his horse across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2016 to bring attention to climate change and will be a guest speaker at the event. The rally will kick off at 11am and go for half an hour. Ms Rainbird said federal and state MPs for Tamworth along with mayor Col Murray have been invited to attend. Have your say.
