Currabubula Hall will get a welcome upgrade, thanks to a state government grant | The Northern Daily Leader

community,

Currabubula’s iconic community hall is getting an upgrade. Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said a $157,910 grant from the Stronger Country Communities Fund was “fantastic news“. “The Currabubula Hall was built in 1912 and has been home to the local Red Cross branch’s art show since 1964 and this year the committee will hold their 57th exhibition and sale,” Mr Anderson said. “I am proud to be able to give back to this community with an investment in the hall ensuring it will remain an important community resource long into the future. The money will go towards installing heating and cooling, and solar panels. A new storage shed and function chairs will also be purchased for the hall and the back area of the stage upgraded. Chair of the Currabubula Local Advisory Group, Veronica Filby said the upgrades to the hall would continue a plan by the group to revive this important community asset. “We’re working hard to put on more shows in the hall and already this year we were part of the Festival of Small Halls, an offshoot of the Woodford Folk Festival. “On 13 March the Hall will present the Comic Relief Drought Tour featuring the award-winning actor and comedian, Rob Carlton. “It’s a free show, so we already have about 70 people who have expressed interest in coming along. And of course we have the wonderful Red Cross Art Show in May.” The 57th Currabubula Red Cross Art Show will be held from Thursday, May 28 to 31.
