Coronavirus cases rise by 25 in Hunter New England | The Northern Daily Leader

coronavirus,

Another 25 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Hunter New England. There are now 167 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Hunter New England Local Health District. The number of confirmed cases in Tamworth remains at nine while there are still none in Gunnedah. Meanwhile, NSW Health statistics recorded a case in Narrabri yesterday. However, the case was actually in Sydney after that individual used an old address. “An individual who recently tested positive for COVID-19 reported a residential address in Narrabri. This address was a family home address, with the individual’s actual place of residence and current location being in the Sydney region. Following this correction, there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Narrabri area,” a Hunter New England Local Health District spokesperson said. Public health physician Dr David Durrheim said it was important as ever for people needed to remain at home. “For most of us, this is going to be a weekend like none other we’ve experienced in the recent past. It’s a weekend to stay at home,” Dr Durrheim said. “This is a special weekend, you can make your contribution in the community, too, by staying at home, not spreading the virus, not coming into contact with the virus and making it a special time – a time to reconnect with your close family members.” Meanwhile, 19 people – mostly Inverell residents – who recently returned from a group trip overseas will be tested. One of them have already returned a positive test. All of them have been in self-isolation after returning home. Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said he was made aware of the confirmed case on Friday afternoon from police. He said another member of the group had also been tested, with the test result due back on Saturday, and the other 17 members of the group will now also be tested. “NSW Police is in the process of contacting and personally visiting each of the members of the touring group, as part of its formal inquiries, and also to remind them of their self-isolation obligations,” Mr Marshall said.
