Rawson Baker Advisors to host Social Isolation Beer and Info Session via Zoom | The Northern Daily Leader

coronavirus,

DESPITE many business owners practising self-distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one group is determined to bring the business community together while simultaneously supporting local pubs. Rawson Baker Advisors will launch their inaugural Social Isolation Beer and Info Session on Wednesday night, which will bring locals together via Zoom to discuss business and enjoy a cold beer. Event co-ordinator Andy Chambers said the first session would focus on the federal government’s latest stimulus package. Read Also: “Basically it all came about because I was thinking of how we could best support the local pubs who have pretty much had to shut up shop,” Mr Chambers told the Leader. “I, like a lot of people, still want a pub to go back to once this is all said and done. “So I thought a session via Zoom with a few beers from a local pub would be the best way to go. “From there we got in touch with the Welders Dog and organised a six-pack for each person who registers to enjoy during the session.” Sign up to receive The Leader’s breaking news and top stories straight to your inbox. Mr Chambers said he was hopeful the event could become a regular fixture during the region’s self-distancing period. “Honestly, I think it is a really good way for people to get behind their local pubs at a time like this,” he said. “We understand listening to accountants, lawyers and alike talk business might not sound like a lot of fun for some people, but it is really just a small part of it. “Hopefully this thing catches on and we can make it a weekly or fortnightly thing to help support more pubs in town. “I think they really need that little bit of support and the few pubs I have spoken to are really supportive about it, so hopefully it catches on.” Have your say, send a letter to the editor. To register for Wednesday night’s event visit: www.eventbrite.com.au/e/social-isolation-beer-and-info-session-registration. “The session costs $30 a head and includes a six-pack, with all the proceeds going to the Welders Dog and while some of the conversation will be about business, there will be a lot of socialising as well,” Mr Chambers said. “There is still a few spots left for the first session and once you register, the beer will be delivered to you for you to enjoy during the session.” Our COVID-19 news articles relating to public health and safety are free for anyone to access.
